Coursera online learning platform has allied with the ConsenSys blockchain project to launch a distributed ledger technology and cryptography course for everyone interested in learning about the burgeoning technology, according to a news release by Coursera on September 5, 2018.
Blockchain and Cryptography for All Nations
Coursera, the online learning platform that offers users from all over the globe courses, specializations, and degrees, has allied with ConsenSys to add blockchain technology and Cryptography to its existing 2400+ course offerings.
According to Coursera, the rising popularity in digital assets has made blockchain technology – the solid foundation behind bitcoin and other cryptos, to become one of the hottest topics of 2018, making DLT the second fastest growing job in today’s labor market.
Although DLT may not be the solution to all the problems plaguing the entire world, the nascent technology, however, has all it takes to revolutionize the traditional finance industry as well as other ecosystems. And Coursera is well aware of the excellent potentials of DLT.
“Blockchain technology has started to transform many other industries, from voting to cloud computing to advertising,” wrote Coursera, adding “With this spike in popularity, blockchain-related jobs are the second fastest growing in today’s labor market.”
The Need for an Online Blockchain Course
Despite the excellent capabilities blockchain technology and the massive demand for DLT professionals in the global labor market, Coursera noted that a vast majority of people are still unfamiliar with the tech, “how it might impact our daily lives” as well as its numerous advantages over legacy systems.
To solve this problem, Coursera decided to team up with ConsenSys in launching the online course called “Blockchain Foundations And Use Cases.”
Blockchain Foundation and Use Cases
According to the team, the DLT foundational course is targeted at both “curious individuals” and professionals alike. It would teach them all they need to know and equip them with the necessary skills that would help them to spot DLT use cases in their fields.
The Blockchain Foundation course has no prerequisites, meaning it’s for everybody who’s interested in learning about blockchain. The ConsenSys team formulate the Course.
Coursera has made it clear that it’s highly engaging, explicit and flexible and participants won’t find it a herculean task applying what they’ve learned.
On completion of the course, learners will earn a certificate from the ConsenSys Academy.
ConsenSys is a brainchild of Joseph Lubin; it’s a top venture production studio focused on developing decentralized, blockchain-powered solutions for the Ethereum network.
As previously reported by BTCManager, in June 2018, ConsenSys selected several banks in the rural areas of the Philippines to trial its real-time payments solution powered by the Ethereum blockchain.
