Bill Clinton To Headline Swell Blockchain Conference

Former U.S. President Bill Clinton will headline an international conference, where policy, payments and technology experts will share ideas based on blockchain technology in financial services. He will deliver a keynote address and participate in a question-and-answer session at the two-day conference to be held in San Francisco in October. The Swell 2018 Conference is organized by Cryptocurrency payments startup Ripple.

Crypto Exchange Coinbase Hires BNY Mellon’s Jeff Horowitz As Compliance Head

Cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase has appointed BNY Mellon executive Jeff Horowitz as its Chief Compliance Officer. After spending close to 12 years at Pershing LLC, a BNY Mellon Co., Horowitz joined Coinbase to help it navigate regulations for virtual currency companies, the company said.

DCEX To Become First Crypto Exchange To Use Ripple’s XRP As Base Currency

San Francisco-based startup DCEX is set to become the first cryptocurrency exchange to exclusively use Ripple’s XRP as the base currency on the platform. The exchange is now open for client registrations with trading expected to begin shortly.

Colorado Issues Cease And Desist Order To Healthcare ICO

Colorado Securities Commissioner has issued a cease and desist order halting a Florida based firm’s initial coin offering (ICO), saying it is offering an unregistered security. Securities Commissioner Gerald Rome issued the order to Linda Healthcare Corporation and its founder, Arturo Devesa, reaffirming a ruling made by administrative Judge, Matthew Norwood, last month.

Ripple Ties Up With Madonna To Raise Funds For Malawi’s Children

Cryptocurrency payments startup Ripple is partnering with pop music diva Madonna’s charity organization in an online fund raiser for orphans and children in Malawi. On Monday, Madonna had announced plans to celebrate her 60th birthday with a one month-long fund-raising through Facebook.
