US President Donald J. Trump has recently announced via microblogging platform Twitter that he’ll be naming Mick Mulvaney, a well-known bitcoin supporter, the new Acting White House Chief of Staff.
Per the tweet, Mulvaney is set to replace General John Kelly as the Chief of Staff, while serving in its current role as the director of the US Office of Management and Budget (OMB). CNN, citing sources familiar with the matter, claims Mulvaney will keep on serving as OMB, as President Trump wanted him to keep his current role as well.
I am pleased to announce that Mick Mulvaney, Director of the Office of Management & Budget, will be named Acting White House Chief of Staff, replacing General John Kelly, who has served our Country with distinction. Mick has done an outstanding job while in the Administration….

Mick Mulvaney is a South Carolina Republican who’s known for being a long-time BTC supporter, who gained an interest in the flagship cryptocurrency back in 2014, after participating in a Small Business Committee hearing on it.
Per his words, the flagship cryptocurrency has the potential to change the financial services industry as we know it. Together with Colorado Democrat Jared Polis, Mulvaney launched the Blockchain Caucus, a bi-partisan group of Members of Congress who believe in the future of blockchain technology and virtual currencies.
Mulvaney has in the past been quoted as saying:
Blockchain technology has the potential to revolutionise the financial services industry, the US economy, and the delivery of government services, and I am proud to be involved with this initiative on the ground floor.
White House’s Pro-Crypto Members
Notably Mulvaney is just one of the various pro-bitcoin enthusiasts that have been elected by the current administration. Others include PayPal co-founder Peter Thiel, who sees BTC as a store of value and served on Trump’s transition team, and Travis Kalacnick, the co-founder of Uber who is part of the presidents team of advisors.
President Trump has also appointed Elad Roisman as a commissioner for the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Roisman has called for regulations that treat the cryptocurrency industry in a “fair and transparent” way, to provide investors with the information they need.
Notably, as CryptoGlobe reported earlier this year, former White House chief Strategist Steve Bannon has revealed he owns BTC and that he believes cryptocurrencies “are the future.”
