The Kinit app, which rewards users with cryptocurrency for performing specific tasks, has recently made it into Apple’s app store. The app uses Kik messenger’s Kin token, and has reportedly amassed thousands of users on Android.

According to a recently published blog post, the app will now give Apple users their first experience earning and spending Kin tokens, shortly after being available to Android users as the app has been live on the Google Play store for a month.

Per the post, in one month Kinit was downloaded over 15,000 times, helping Kin reportedly become more popular than all of Ethereum’s other decentralized applications (dApps) combined, thanks to its integration in the Kik messenger app, which is said to have had over 300 million registered users as of May 2016.

The post quotes SludgeFeed’s Craig Russo, stating:

Kin (KIN) … has recently surpassed the daily active users of all the decentralized applications (DApps) on the Ethereum (ETH) blockchain.

It notes that upon opening the Kinit app, users are prompted to set up their Kin wallet so they can then complete tasks and earn tokens. These tasks include surveys and quizzes, some of which are reportedly sponsored by brands like Swarovski and Red Bull, which use its partner Swelly to A/B test products and ads.

Notably, the Kinit app is one of, if not the first cryptocurrency-related rewards app to make it to Apple’s app store after the company added a list of “approved cryptocurrencies” and enforced strict rules.

According to the App Store’s review guidelines cryptocurrency apps can’t reward users for completing tasks. The guidelines read:

(v) Cryptocurrency apps may not offer currency for completing tasks, such as downloading other apps, encouraging other users to download, posting to social networks, etc.

Curisouly, Kin founder and CEO Ted Livingston had in the past revealed he was working with teams at Apple to be the first app to bypass the tech giant’s rule. At the time, he revealed these were “conversations that really nobody else in the world is having.”

As a result, the Kinit app is now available both on Android and iOS, but only for users located in the US. At press time, the Kin token is trading at $0.00013 and is up over 25% in the last 24-hour period, according to CryptoCompare data.
